How to clean the cameras on your Kia Niro EV
How to clean the cameras on your Kia Niro EV. Two lenses to keep clear. One windscreen camera behind the mirror, feeding FCA and lane keeping. One rear camera on the tailgate, above the licence plate, for the rear view monitor. Rain, road spray and winter salt build up on both lenses fast. A clear lens keeps these systems working as intended.
Where are the cameras on the Kia Niro EV?
- Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
- Reversing camera
Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.
Where dirt builds up
FCA and lane keeping run through the windscreen camera. Top NL trims also get Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist, both dependent on a clear camera view. A dirty or iced lens limits FCA automatically. A wipe clears dirt from the lens, not software faults or haze on the inside of the windscreen.
How to clean the cameras on your Niro EV
- 1
Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.
- 2
Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.
- 3
Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.
Kia Niro EV questions
Does the Niro EV have a 360-degree camera?
No. No NL or DE Niro EV trim lists a surround view monitor. You only get the windscreen camera and the rear camera.
Is the rear camera standard on the Niro EV?
Yes, on the base trim in both NL and DE price lists. It sits on the tailgate above the licence plate.
Can you still buy a new Kia Niro EV in the Netherlands or Germany?
As of November 2026, Kia NL and Kia DE list only the Niro Hybrid. The 2027 facelift with surround and bird's eye view cameras applies to the Hybrid, not the Niro EV.
