Where are the cameras on the Hyundai Tucson?

  1. Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
  2. Grille or front bumper optional
  3. Under the door mirrors optional
  4. Reversing camera

Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.

Where dirt builds up

The rear camera sits below the rear wiper's sweep, right in the path of road spray. The manual lists no camera washer, only mild soap or a neutral detergent recommended for the lenses.

FCA and lane keeping rely on the windscreen camera. Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist (if fitted) rely on the exterior cameras. A dirty lens can make these work poorly or switch off.

How to clean the cameras on your Tucson

  1. 1

    Tear open

Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

  2. 2

    Wipe the lens

A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

  3. 3

    Bin it

Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Hyundai Tucson questions

Does every Tucson have the same cameras?

No. The windscreen and rear cameras are standard, but the front camera and side cameras for Surround View and Blind-Spot View Monitor depend on trim.

Why does the rear camera get dirty so fast?

It sits below the rear wiper's sweep, so it catches road spray and rain directly without the wiper ever clearing it.

Will a wipe always fix a blurry camera image?

No. A wipe cleans the outside of the lens but won't fix haze on the inside of the windscreen or a software fault.
