How to clean the cameras on your Hyundai Ioniq 5
Your Ioniq 5 has at least a windscreen camera for FCA and lane keeping, plus a rear camera for the Rear View Monitor. Depending on trim, it may also have cameras for Surround View, Blind-Spot Monitor or digital side mirrors. Clean lenses keep these systems working properly.

Where dirt builds up
The rear camera sits on the flat, near-vertical tailgate and picks up a lot of road spray. Pre-facelift cars have no rear wiper, so dirt stays there longer. The manual warns that Digital Side Mirror lenses can get dirty or fog up.
If the windscreen camera area is covered, the car shows a message that driver assistance is limited because the camera is obscured, and FCA is limited or disabled. Surround View, Blind-Spot Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 rely on the exterior cameras, so dirt on them limits those functions directly.

Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Why does my Ioniq 5's rear camera get dirty so often?
It attaches to the rear tail gate and collects a great deal of water and debris as it travels down the road. This can result in dirtier vehicles, especially those pre facelift models with no rear window washer.
Can a wipe fix a fogged digital side mirror camera?
If the lens itself is dirty, cleaning helps, but fogging from condensation is a different issue. The camera does have a heater built in to reduce that.
What happens if my Ioniq 5's windscreen camera is dirty?
The car shows a message that driver assistance is limited because the camera is obscured. FCA and lane keeping may then be reduced or switched off.
