How to clean the cameras on your BYD Atto 3
Your BYD Atto 3 has a camera on the windscreen, cameras around the body for the 360 degree Panoramic View System and a camera above the rear licence plate. Dirt on any of these cameras affects your view and the driver assist systems straight away. Regular cleaning keeps everything working as intended.

Where dirt builds up
The rear camera above the licence plate sits in the road spray zone and picks up a lot of grime. The manual also mentions ice, frost, mud and bird droppings on the camera housings as something to watch for. There is no built-in cleaning, so you handle it yourself.
When the windscreen camera detects dirt, PCW and AEB switch off until it is cleaned. Lane departure warning is interrupted if the camera is blocked, and adaptive cruise control exits if the front sensors are fully covered.

Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Why does my Atto 3 sometimes lose AEB?
If the windscreen camera is dirty or wet, the car disables PCW and AEB until the view is clear again. This is noted in the manual.
Does the Atto 3 clean its own cameras?
No, there is no built-in cleaning. The manual says to wipe water or dust off the cameras promptly yourself and never aim a high-pressure washer at them.
