How to clean the cameras on your Tesla Model 3
Your Tesla Model 3 runs on Tesla Vision, so every camera plays a role in parking and driver assistance. There are cameras above the rear-view mirror, in both front fenders, in both B-pillars and above the rear licence plate. Newer EU cars also get a front bumper camera.
Where are the cameras on the Tesla Model 3?
- Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
- Grille or front bumper
- Side cameras in the front fenders
- B-pillars, left and right
- Reversing camera

Where dirt builds up
The rear camera above the licence plate picks up a lot of road spray and salt in winter. Condensation can form inside the B-pillar camera housings. Only the front bumper camera (on newer cars) has a washer nozzle, the rest have none.
Your Model 3 has no ultrasonic sensors, Park Assist runs entirely on cameras. A dirty or blocked camera triggers a warning and assisted driving features may be restricted.
How to clean the cameras on your Model 3

Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Why does my Model 3 show a blocked camera warning?
Rain, mist or winter grime can dirty a camera so Tesla Vision cannot read it properly. A clean lens with a lint-free wipe often fixes this.
Does my Model 3 have a front bumper camera?
It depends on the build date. EU cars only got a bumper camera with washer nozzle from late 2025, earlier Highland cars did not.
Can I clean all the cameras myself?
You may clean the exterior of the cameras using a dampened wipe and a lint free wipe. Any condensation within the B-Pillar housing and/or software issues will still require service.
