How to clean the cameras on your Skoda Elroq
The Skoda Elroq has a camera behind the windscreen for driver assistance and a rear view camera in the tailgate handle. Depending on the trim, cameras in the mirrors and front bumper add Area View. Dirt on these lenses blurs the image, especially in rain or on dirty roads.
Where are the cameras on the Skoda Elroq?
- Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
- Grille or front bumper optional
- Under the door mirrors optional
- Reversing camera
Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.
Where dirt builds up
Rain, mud and road spray from salt build up easily on the rear camera in the tailgate and on the mirror-mounted cameras. City parking adds dust and exhaust residue. Skoda does not mention any automatic cleaning for these cameras.
The rear view camera and Area View support parking, alongside the ultrasonic Park Distance Control sensors. A dirty lens means a poorer image, even if the sensors keep measuring distance correctly.
How to clean the cameras on your Elroq
- 1
Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.
- 2
Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.
- 3
Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.
Skoda Elroq questions
Does every Elroq have a 360 degree camera?
No, Area View with cameras in the mirrors and front bumper depends on the trim. The rear view camera in the tailgate is more common but can also vary by trim.
Why is my reversing image blurry when the sensors still work?
The ultrasonic parking sensors and the camera are separate systems. A dirty lens gives a blurry picture even while the sensors keep measuring distance fine.
Can a wipe fix a hazy windscreen from the inside?
No, that is usually condensation or a film on the inside of the glass, not camera dirt. CamWipes cleans lenses on the outside, not software faults or interior haze.
