How to clean the cameras on your Renault Scenic E-Tech
Your Renault Scenic E-Tech has a front camera for driving assist systems and a digital rear camera, both standard. Depending on the trim, you may also get 360° cameras around the car and a smart rear-view mirror. Clean lenses mean sharper images when parking and using assist functions.
Where are the cameras on the Renault Scenic E-Tech?
- Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
- Grille or front bumper optional
- Under the door mirrors optional
- Camera for the digital rear-view mirror optional
- Reversing camera
Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.
Where dirt builds up
The square, steep tail of the Scenic E-Tech picks up dirt fast. Owners report that the rear camera, tailgate and rear screen get dirty quickly from road spray and grime.
Both easy park assist and active assist (lane centering) use the same cameras. If the lens becomes dirty, this will produce an image that appears fuzzy or slow to update. This will negatively affect the performance of both of these functions.
How to clean the cameras on your Scenic E-Tech
- 1
Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.
- 2
Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.
- 3
Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.
Renault Scenic E-Tech questions
Does every Scenic E-Tech have a 360° camera?
No, it depends on the trim. On some it's standard, on others it's only available with an optional pack.
Why is the rear camera on my Scenic E-Tech often blurry?
The steep, square tail picks up a lot of dirt and spray, so the lens gets dirty fast. Cleaning it regularly with a wipe helps.
Can a wipe fix a hazy image caused by condensation inside the windscreen?
No, that's usually moisture on the inside of the glass or a software issue. A wipe only cleans the outside of the lens.
