How to clean the cameras on your Peugeot e-2008

Your Peugeot e-2008 has a camera behind the windscreen for emergency braking and lane assist, and depending on trim it may also have a rear camera and a front camera in the grille for the 360° view. Clean lenses keep these systems working well, especially in rain or motorway spray.

Where are the cameras on the Peugeot e-2008?

  1. Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
  2. Grille or front bumper optional
  3. Reversing camera optional

Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.

Where dirt builds up

The rear camera in the tailgate can pick up grime or mist from rain and road spray, especially in winter. A camera in the grille sits low and catches dirt straight off the road. DATA does not mention any built-in cleaning system.

Emergency braking and lane assist from the standard Safety Pack rely on the windscreen camera. If that lens is dirty or misted, these functions work less reliably or not at all.

How to clean the cameras on your e-2008

  1. 1

    Tear open

Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

  2. 2

    Wipe the lens

A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

  3. 3

    Bin it

Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Peugeot e-2008 questions

Does every Peugeot e-2008 have a rear camera?

No, it depends on the trim. It's standard on Business, Envy and GT, while Style and Allure get sensors only by default, with Allure offering the camera as an option via the Vision Pack.

Can a wipe fix a misted-up windscreen from the inside?

No. A wipe cleans the outside of the camera lens, not internal mist or software issues.

Why does the windscreen camera matter so much?

It drives the standard emergency braking and lane assist functions. Dirt or mist on the windscreen near that camera can make these systems less accurate.
