How to clean the cameras on your Mercedes-Benz EQA

The Mercedes-Benz EQA has a camera behind the windscreen for driver assistance and a reversing camera behind a cover on the tailgate. Depending on trim, a front camera and side cameras are added for the 360° camera parking package. Dirt on any of these lenses can affect parking aids and assistance systems.

Where are the cameras on the Mercedes-Benz EQA?

  1. Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
  2. Grille or front bumper optional
  3. Under the door mirrors optional
  4. Reversing camera

Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.

Where dirt builds up

Automated parking on the EQA relies on the windscreen camera and the reversing camera. A dirty lens makes these systems less accurate. A wipe cannot fix software or calibration faults.

How to clean the cameras on your EQA

  1. 1

    Tear open

Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

  2. 2

    Wipe the lens

A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

  3. 3

    Bin it

Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Mercedes-Benz EQA questions

My reversing camera cover keeps opening and closing while driving, what is that?

This has been reported on related models and seems linked to camera calibration. Mercedes issued a software fix for the GLA/GLB. A wipe will not help here, it is not a dirt issue.

How do I clean the reversing camera on my EQA?

Open the cover via the multimedia system under Settings, Assistance, Camera & Parking, Open camera cover. Then wipe gently with a damp, lint-free wipe, and avoid using a high-pressure cleaner.

Does every EQA have a 360° camera?

No, this depends on the trim. The front and side cameras of the 360° camera parking package are optional and only standard on certain lines.
