How to clean the cameras on your Ford Explorer EV
Your Ford Explorer EV has a windscreen camera for Pre-Collision Assist and a rear camera with a washer jet. The Driver Assistance Pack adds a front camera and mirror cameras for a 360 degree bird's-eye view. Dirty lenses give blurry images, especially in rain or low light.

Where dirt builds up
The rear camera has its own washer jet, which already rinses off coarse dirt. The windscreen camera, front camera and mirror cameras have no built-in cleaning. Rain, winter road salt and road spray build up on them faster.
Pre-Collision Assist uses the windscreen camera together with the radar. Reverse Brake Assist relies on the rear camera. Active Park Assist, part of the Driver Assistance Pack, uses the 360 degree cameras. Dirty lenses can make these functions less accurate.
How to clean the cameras on your Explorer EV

Tear open
Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

Wipe the lens
A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

Bin it
Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Does the Ford Explorer EV come with a rear camera as standard?
Yes, from the Style trim the Explorer EV has a rear camera with a washer jet. The jet rinses off coarse dirt, but a wipe is still needed for finer grime.
Can a wipe fix haze on the inside of the windscreen?
No, a wipe for the camera only cleans the outside of the lens. Haze on the inside of the glass or a software fault cannot be fixed this way.
Does every Explorer EV have 360 degree cameras?
That depends on the trim. The cameras for the 360 degree view are part of the optional Driver Assistance Pack, not standard on every version.
