How to clean the cameras on your Cupra Born

The Cupra Born has a front camera behind the mirror for driver assistance and a rear view camera on the tailgate. With the Top View pack you also get a front camera and two in the mirrors. Dirty lenses give a blurry or dark image, something you notice right away when reversing or parking.

Where are the cameras on the Cupra Born?

  1. Windscreen, outside in front of the camera
  2. Grille or front bumper optional
  3. Under the door mirrors optional
  4. Reversing camera

Camera equipment varies by trim and model year. Check your owner's manual.

Where dirt builds up

The rear camera on the Born sits uncovered on the tailgate. The short, upright hatchback tail means dirt builds up there quickly, especially in rain or wet road spray. It's not clear whether the camera has any built-in cleaning, so don't assume it does.

A clean rear camera matters for a sharp image when reversing and parking. If you have the Top View pack, the surround view also depends on clean lenses in the mirrors and at the front.

How to clean the cameras on your Born

  1. 1

    Tear open

Each wet wipe is separately packaged to remain damp for months when left in a vehicle.

  2. 2

    Wipe the lens

A wet wipe can be used to remove dirt, road grime (film) and finger prints. Use the minimum amount of pressure to clean your lenses.

  3. 3

    Bin it

Do NOT use an individual wipe twice. After you have cleaned one surface, you will need to dispose of the wet wipe as the dirt has been transferred into the wipe. If you reuse a wet wipe, it may scratch the coating on your lens.

Cupra Born questions

Why does the Born's rear camera get dirty so fast?

The camera sits uncovered on the tailgate, and the Born has a short, upright tail. That means dirt and road spray hit the lens quickly.

Does every Born have a 360° camera?

No, the Top View Camera with surround view depends on your trim or pack, such as EDGE or Pilot M. Check your own car's spec.

Will a wipe also fix haze on the inside of the windscreen?

No, that's a different issue unrelated to the outer cameras. A wipe only cleans the outside of the lenses, not software or condensation problems.
